Mondays through Thursdays  from 10am-noon in August, Stacey Stroka leads The Buttonwood Tree’s Open Arts & Crafts program. Everyone is welcome!

This evening, from 5 to 8 p.m. is the Middletown Gallery Walk, where North End Galleries, Shops, and Restaurants are collaborating to offer a community event.

Friday night Shawn Taylor and the Wandering Roots bring their gritty soul stirring vocals & poetic blue collar lyrics to the Buttonwood stage at 8.

Food Not Bombs shares food about 1 pm in front of the Buttonwood Tree every Sunday. All are welcome to the meal and are also invited to help prepare the food at the First Church on Court Street at 11:30 am.

Tonight, down at Toad’s Place in New Haven, is always the weekly dubstep dance party, and Thursday brings renowned rapper DMX to the stage . Friday night is Shakedown, featuring The Dead and Beyond and Dizzy Fish.  Saturday night Toad’s hosts La Coka Nostra, including members of the House of Pain, Non Phixion, and Special Teams. Tonight at 9 in New Haven,  at Cafe Nine, Die Hipster presents the area’s hardest edge punk rockers.
Thursday night MANIC PRODUCTIONS Presents: You Won’t; w/ Plume Giant; Laurelin Kruse, and Friday Night there will be a local punk rock n’ roll showcase featuring The Hulls and Defcon 5. •
Café nine’s Saturday afternoon Jazz Jam will be hosted by Tony Dioguardi and Friends. Saturday is the ANTHRAX CLUB REUNION NIGHT: featuring Seizure; Lost Generation; 76% Uncertain; C.I.A.; Zombie Squad; and Skeletal Ambitions.

Tonight and on upcoming Wednesday nights in Hartford Blackeyed Sally’s hosts one of the longest running open blues jams in New England!
Thursday night Little Ed & the Blues Imperials bring their raw-boned Chicago sound to the stage at Sally’s.

Friday night Sully’s Pub in Hartford host Wimbash 2012, The Annual musical gathering organized by Hartford native international musical legend and Bassist, Doug Wimbish. This year’s Wimbash will feature over 20 artists and bands on two stages featuring Living Colour’s Vernon Reid and Will Calhoun, The School of Rock House Band, Jungle funk, Vinx, Keith Leblanc and many more. Also this Saturday the Caribbean-American Multi-Cultural Association of CT presents their first annual Tace Middletown: Trinidad Style Carnival Launching. Festivities will take place from 1 to 9:30 pm by the waterfront at Harbor Park here in Middletown. There will be live performances by the Hartford Steel Symphony, Brooklyn’s own Women in Steel dance group, djs, and more. For vending and information call 860-818-0678.

Tonight and Thursday evening Real Art Ways in Hartford will continue viewings of ‘The Queen of Versailles’ an epic documentary following billionaires Jackie and David and their rags to riches story. This Friday Real Art Ways will begin their run of Chinese Take-Away, an Argentine film about a Chinese man who can’t seem to find what he’s looking for in Buenos Aires, and a local man who tries to help him on his journey. Tis the season for farmers’ markets and here are a few in our area: The Durham Farmers’ Market is open every Thursday on the Town Green on Main St, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., through September. The longstanding Middletown Farmers’ market at the South Green is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October. The Middletown North End Farmers Market is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday and is located at the corner of Liberty and Main Streets in Middletown.
