461. Billie Eilish – When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go [2019]
Nominated by DJ McKenzie of Splitting Hairs & The Beatles: A Week in the Life who says: Billie Eilish has proven to be one of the best (if not the best) songwriters of her generation. Her fantastic debut album, made even better by her brother Finneas’ production work on it, is a masterpiece about mental illness, youth, love, and just about anything else you can think of.
462. Firesign Theatre – Don’t Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers [1970]
Nominated by DJ Cheshire Cat of Wonderland who says: “And there’s hamburger all over the highway in Mystic, Connecticut.” This surreal comedy album fully exploits the freedom that a purely audio recording affords creators, allowing The Firesign Theatre to tell the bizarre narrative of an aging actor who spends an entire evening watching himself on television. Endlessly quotable, simultaneously cerebral and juvenile, and flat-out hilarious.
