Our Favorite Albums (411 – 420)

411. Xiu Xiu – Forget [2017]

Nominated by DJ TJ of Punkadelic.

Forget (stylised as FORGET) is…produced by John Congleton, Greg Saunier, and Angela Seo, it features contributions from Charlemagne Palestine, Kristof Hahn, Vaginal Davis, and Enyce Smith. (wikipedia.org).

412. Loreena McKennitt – The Mask and the Mirror [1994]

Nominated by Karen Stein of Imagine who says: This album was heavily influenced by McKennitt’s travels in Morocco and Spain. She looks back to the 15th century and the cross-cultural fertilization that was happening at that time. In this heavily orchestrated, gorgeous album you will travel to Santiago, to Gibraltar, to Ireland and the Pyrenees and Galicia and Egypt. My favorite album to listen to when the snow flies and the only traveling l can do is in my room being transported by music..

413. Ponybird – Modest Quarters [2014]

Nominated by Robbie of Homegrown.

Many of the songs were written in a remote part of the Hudson Valley, and are steeped with the influences of songwriters such as Dar Williams, A.A. Bondy, Jesse Sykes, Patty Griffin, and the inspiring legacy of Pete Seeger. The record also boasts several cameo performances from friends in the local music community, who added new flavors and expanded the overall album concept from a singer with a guitar to a dreamer cracking open her sonic palette to illustrate a different point of view. 414. Alain Goraguer – Music from La Planete Sauvage [1973]

415. Coil – Horse Rotorvator [1986]

Nominated by Rick Reaction.

Coil’s second studio album was recorded in London at Sam Therapy, Paradise, Livingston and Guerilla.

416. Tommy Keene – Songs From the Film [1986]

417. Queen – A Night At The Opera [1975]

Nominated by Johnny Ganache of Pint O’ Comics who says: I’m doing this off the top of my head, this should be much higher. Incredible album, groundbreaking.

418. Arctic Monkeys – AM [2013]

Express, cameos from Robbie Robertson, David Crosby & Graham Nash and even a twist of comedy from Cheech & Chong. (wikipedia.org)

420. Kanye West – Late Registration [2005]
