Our Favorite Songs (181 – 190)
181. Tomorrow Never Knows by The Beatles
Year Released: 1966
Released On: Revolver
Nominated by Richard Class of 1985 who says: Death and reincarnation. I want this song played at my funeral.
182. Woman in Chains by Tears For Fears featuring Oleta Adams
Year Released: 1989
Released On: The Seeds of Love
Nominated by Rob of Chocolate Cake who says: This is the song that introduced the world to the amazing voice of Oleta Adams. In an age where too many ‘diva’ singers were shrieking at the top of their lungs, just because they could, Adams reminded us what a soulful R&B vocalist should sound like. The song was a new direction for TFF, a wide open landscape that was in direct contrast to the in-your-face production of earlier hits like “”Shout””.
183. Fisherman’s Blues by The Waterboys
Released On: Fisherman’s Blues
Nominated by DJ Livor Mortis of Word on the Street and DJ Starling of Bump in the Night/
184. When Kingdoms Fall by Mighty Purple
Year Released: 1994
Released On: Bohica
Nominated by DJ Cheshire Cat of Wonderland who says: I moved to Middletown, CT in 1995. It seemed that at every party, every house, and every hang someone was listening to Mighty Purple. A Connecticut homegrown band, Mighty Purple was quintessential 90’s rock, with acoustic and psych elements to their music, and a non-stop good time when they played live. I’ll always recall “When Kingdoms Fall” as both their grandiose epic song and a precious memento of wonderful times and great friends.
185. The Way I feel by Gordon Lightfoot
