Our Favorite Songs (45 – 50)
45. Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles
Year Released: 1966
Released On: Revolver
Nominated by DJ McKenzie of The Beatles: A Week in the Life and Dj Treck of Wes Dissect.
46. Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright by Bob Dylan
Year Released: 1963
Released On: The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan
Nominated by Cath from Buffalo who says: How to pick my favorite Dylan song; there are about a million I love.
Also nominated by DJ McKenzie of The Beatles: A Week in the Life
47. St. Stephen by Grateful Dead
Year Released: 1969
Released On: Aoxomoxoa
Nominated by Andy Chatfield of Center for the Arts Radio Hour.
Also nominated by Sir Jon of Pint O’ Comics who prefers the Two from the Vault version and who says: Originally released in 1969 on Aoxomoxoa, this Dead tune is the one that strikes me the hardest, especially on this recording from 1968. I feel this is the best version, the most entertaining, the loudest and most viscerally Dead. Pigpen jams it out and lets it go on this one, a real treat of sound and notes. Plus, that Bob Weir scream is uncanny.
48. Black Butterflies and Deja Vu by The Maine
Year Released: 2017
Released On: Lovely Little Lonely
Nominated by DJ Black Butterfly of Late Nite Emo who says: I can’t explain how this song makes me feel, but it is otherworldly. It’s like The Maine says about 8123, “”t’s about a number you can’t explain but you don’t really have to because the people you love already feel it too”
Also nominated by DJ Goldboy of The K-Pop Power Hour.
49. Motion Sickness by Phoebe Bridgers
Year Released: 2017
Released On: Stranger In The Alps
Nominated by Chris of Crispix & Everything Now who says: Phoebe’s voice is somehow just as haunting on this track as the rest of the albums more down-tempo songs but is a welcome change of pace. This song is just straight up catchy and masterfully mixed by Mike Mogis.
Also mominated by The Gonch of Breakfast of Champions.
50. Tear Drops by Lee Andrews & the Hearts
Year Released: 1957
Released On: Chess label single
Nominated by Joel from Queens who says: Lee Andrews beautiful voice and ballad singer.
Also nominated by Jim ‘The Curator’ of The Wax Museum Show.
