7. A reminder that the world is imperfect, and that this list…HAS NO NUMBER 7.
8. Every Day Of The Week by The Students
Year Released: 1958
Released On: Note
Nominated by Al and Tom.
9. Time by Pink Floyd
Year Released: 1973
Released On: The Dark Side of the Moon
Nominated by DJ McKenzie of The Beatles: A Week in the Life and Andy Chatfield of Center for the Arts Radio Hour.
Nominated by DJ Cheshire Cat of Wonderland who says: The individual members of Pink Floyd each contribute to a track which perfectly straddles the line between progressive rock and accessible music. After Alan Parsons provides the quadraphonic clocks, Nick Mason demonstrates his musical chops with an understated percussion solo accompanied by Roger Water’s tik-tok emulating bass plucking. David Gilmour swoops in with his expansive guitar work and vocals tinged with a hint of anger before Richard Wright’s slightly resigned voice covers the bridges over his keyboards. The craftsmanship that went into composing and recording this ubiquitous song is undeniable.
10. Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Year Released: 1969
Released On: Willy and the Poor Boys
Nominated by Sophie from Texas who says: I ain’t no senators son.
Nominated by Richard K of River Valley Rhythms who says: As protest songs go, there are few better (and harder hitting) than John Fogerty’s condemnation of the US Congress and its ability to tax us, send us off to war, and to always ask for “more, more, more”.
