Our Favorite Songs (311 – 320)
311. A Man Is in Love by The Waterboys
Released On: The Best of The Waterboys (1981-1990)
Nominated by DJ Livor Mortis of Word on the Street who says: I’m a sucker for Irish rockers in general, but especially the Waterboys. Do yourself a favor and listen to this album’s version so that you don’t miss the fiddle outro.
312. Whole Lotta Rosie by AC/DC
Year Released: 1977
Released On: Let There Be Rock
Nominated by Sir Jon of Pint O’ Comics who says: The GREATEST AC/DC song ever produced. Bon Scott somehow makes the most demure lyrics into an amusing, dirty limerick, regardless of the subject. Here however, it’s a bawdy song about a night with a larger than average groupie and it just gets better and more fun with every retelling and replay. Live recordings make it even more enjoyable as the whole band just gels as a rock and roll powerhouse. You’re remembered, Bon – even by Rosie.
313. Prospect Hummer by Animal Collective
Year Released: 2005
Released On: Prospect Hummer
Nominated by DJ AmorOso of WTF: What the Funk, Storytime who says: I don’t know why, but this song has always reminded me of “Where the Wild Things Are,” and I find that very comforting.
314. Memories by Eisley
Year Released: 2005
Released On: Room Noises
Nominated by Charlie from Petaluma who says: Another song that brings a tear. Those voices!
315. Suzie Q by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Year Released: 1968
Released On: Credence Clearwater Revival
Nominated by Host Steve of Wes Sports & Beyond… who says: Yet another song that I fell asleep to and then woke up to. CCR was my first introduction to a “jam band”. Mesmerizing…
316. Rhythm-A-Ning by Thelonious Monk
Year Released: 1958
Released On: Thelonious in Action
Nominated by Bill Denert of Evening Jazz who says: Incredible live performance of this Monk masterpiece! Blends into his theme song, Epistrophy. Johnny Griffin’s sax playing is monumental throughout this live show!
317. Tiny Vessels by Death Cab For Cutie
Year Released: 2003

Nominated by Gem from Cambridge who says: This was my favorite song in middle school, but it still holds up today.
318. Uncle John’s Band by Grateful Dead
Year Released: 1970

Nominated by Emperor Galen who says: Uncle John’s Band -Also makes me tear up.
319. Flowers on the Wall by The Statler Brothers
Year Released: 1965
Released On: Flowers on the Wall
Nominated by Peter from San Anselmo who says: This song is sheer poetry and the way the Statler Brothers sing it makes you want to root for the poor mess of the man who has lost his love. Funny and poignant at the same time.
320. Light My Fire (long version) by The Doors
Year Released: 1967
Released On: Elektra
Nominated by Larry of Moondog Matinee who says: Late ’60s definitive song.
