The Middletown Commission on the Arts presents its annual Summer Sounds concert series on the City’s South Green (Union Park) tonight

In New Haven, tonight, Café Nine presents nuclear indie group ‘Girl in a Coma’ along with Black Box Revelation and You Scream I
Scream.Tomorrow night it’s Fake Babies; Ports of Spain; Elison Jackson; Kindred Queer; and Jose Oyola taking the Café Nine stage starting at
8 pm. Thursday Blues @9 brings the John D’Amato band to the stage, and Friday Night will see Nona Hendrix, of the funk/glam/rock group
‘Labelle’ • Café Nine’s Saturday afternoon Jazz Jam will be hosted by the George Baker Experience this week. Saturday Night the rock and

In New Britain tonight, MATT ZEINER & FRIENDS play Jazz from 8:30-Midnight at Tools Bar and Grill. On Friday the Latin Quarter Jazz

Tonight and continuing on Tuesday nights in Hartford, you can catch Mike Palin’s “Other orchestra” an 18-piece big band live on stage at
Black-Eyed Sally’s. Tomorrow and every Wednesday night, Sally’s hosts one of the longest running open blues jams in New England! On
Friday night storyteller and deep roots guitarist known as ‘The Sauce Boss” will take the stage at Sally’s, followed by the Randy Oxford Band

On Wednesdays through July and into early August, The Friends of Long Hill Estate, together with The Long Hill Estate Authority, will once
again host their free ‘Music at the
Mansion’ series at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown.
All of the concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the grounds open for
picnicking at 5:30 p.m. Parking will be at the Mansion, at the Wilbert Snow
School, and at Mercy High School.
Concerts will be held in light rain, or the threat of showers.
Tomorrow, making its first appearance at the Wadsworth Mansion: The Highland Rovers Band, fusing popular
rock percussive rhythms, bagpipes, and vocal harmonies to create an
intricate and fresh sound. HRB’s multi-layered, upbeat, and danceable music
showcases its universal appeal to both mainstream modern rock lovers and
culturally diverse audiences searching for a distinct Celtic flavor. Visit

Tomorrow night will be the Middletown Gallery Walk, which will continue every third Wednesday of the month from now until October
from 5:00-8:00 pm.
Friday night, California performers Mark Lemaire and Twilight bring their ‘beautiful two-part harmonies and virtuoso guitar’ to the
Buttonwood Tree.
Saturday at the Buttonwood Tree is a double bill starting off with ‘contemporary jazz guitar innovators’ Sheryl Bailey and Vic Juris, followed
by a little Rock n’ Roll with Ray Mason. Show begins at 8:00 pm.
Food Not Bombs shares food about 1 pm in front of the Buttonwood Tree every Sunday. All are welcome and invited to help prepare
vegetarian food at the First Church at 190 Court Street at 11:30 am.

‘Tis the season for farmers’ markets and here’s a few in our area:
The Durham Farmers’ Market is open every Thursday on the Town Green on Main St, from 3 to 6:30 pm, through September. The
longstanding Middletown Farmers’ market at the South Green is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am to 1 pm through October. The
Middletown North End Farmers Market is now open 10 am to 2 pm every Friday and is located at the corner of Liberty and Main Streets in
Middletown.

folk-rock, bluegrass, acoustic, blues, Celtic, old-time, singer-songwriter and other music that has a roots influence. Tonight’s show will feature
the music of Woodie Guthrie, in honor of his 100th birthday.
Next up, at 11, an hour later than usual, stay tuned for DJ Cheshire Cat’s Wonderland.
Then, from midnight to1:30 am, it’s Back From Baltimore with Hannah Malloy, bringing you new and old psychedelic, indie, rock, folk,

The BBC World News Service kicks on at 4AM and we begin tomorrow’s broadcast at 5am with Morning Edition from NPR.
