Down in New Haven’s Café Nine tonight, you can catch the 70’s-influenced country-rock performers Jack Wilson and Jay Russell. Tomorrow there will be an early show starting at 8 with violinist Ada Pasternack, followed by a late show at 10 Pat Dalton and friends. Thursday Jazz Haven presents an early show by the Abe Ovadia Group, followed by the Thirsty Thursday Trio at 10. Friday will hold an ode to The Replacements, featuring a screening of Color Me Obsessed: A Film About the Replacements. Café Nine’s Saturday afternoon Jazz Jam will be hosted by Tony Dioguardi and Friends this week. Also tonight and on all Tuesday nights in Hartford, at Blackeyed Sally’s you can catch Mike Palin’s Other Orchestra, an 18-piece big band jazz ensemble. Tomorrow and every Wednesday at 8:30 pm, Sally’s hosts one of the longest running open blues jams in New England! This week’s session is hosted by Tim McDonald. Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band is on stage Thursday night at Sally’s . Friday night is the Summer Slam Fest and Saturday night SHAKEDOWN plays the Grateful DEAD AND BEYOND on the Toad’s main stage. Rhythmic Circus and Carbonated Insight open that show. On Friday night, at the Buttonwood Tree in Middletown, J Cherry and the Strawberries will perform a variety show entitled Voice of the City.
Saturday night is a double header with Alli and the Oxen Frees and folk group Mumblty-Peg performing a benefit concert, with proceeds going towards Pathways Togo, Inc. Show starts at 8pm.

The Durham Farmers Market is open every Thursday on the Town Green on Main St, from 3-6:30pm now thru Sept. The Middletown North End Farmers Market is open from10am-2pm every Friday and is located at the corner of Liberty and Main Streets. The longstanding Middletown farmers’ market is located on the south Green and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m now through October.

Tonight, Cinestudio, the Trinity College cinema in Hartford, closes their run of “Moonrise Kingdom” by American film director Wes Anderson. Through Thursday, Real Art Ways in Hartford continues their run of Polisse, the Cannes Fim Festival winner that follows the daily lives of a tight-knit team of men and women working in the Child Protection Unit of the Parisian police. At 8, it’s Acoustic Blender with Bill Revill for two hours of acoustic roots and Americana music.
From 10 to midnight, it’s Wonderland, with DJ Cheshire Cat, who’s got a song in his heart, a chemical imbalance in his head and a musical library at his fingers. From krautrock to post-rock, grunge to garage, novelty to New Romantic, punk to prog, Wonderland has a place for it.
From midnight til 1:30 am, it’s Back From Baltimore with Hannah, back home in Connecticut from her latest semester in Baltimore, bringing each week new and old psychedelic, indie, rock, folk, alternative, lo-fi music and at least a few tunes from Baltimore’s music scene.
Then, from 1:30-2:30am, it’s Random Access Music – with DJ Cheshire Cat
A suicide shuffle of songs and sounds.
After that, DJ Otto Nation is in the house with an eclectic mix of music after that until the BBC World News Service kicks on at 4 am and we begin tomorrow’s broadcast at 5 am with Morning Edition from NPR.
