Tomorrow at the Buttonwood Tree on Main Street, the Emile deleon group has a jazz jam, with warm and accomplished veterans of improvisational musical art and scions of the Jazz tradition. They invite you to come out and be part of the “process” at 7 o’clock on Wednesday.
Thursday its writers out loud at the buttonwood tree, when six phenomenal storytellers sign up seeking constructive critique of their latest works in progress. Come launch your literary craft to the next level and with ongoing, peer-to-peer critique and networking opportunities. Thursday at 7
Friday at the Buttonwood, Stacy Phillips and Paul Howard will perform their grammy Award-winning Neo Urban Traditional music at at 8PM.
Saturday at 8 The John Funkhouser Trio will be playing all original music and sunday at 4 it’s an afternoon Double Bill featuring EMILY HURD / ORICE JENKINS.
Chicago-based songwriter and pianist, Emily Hurd, plays folk-pop songs that tell stories of old-fashioned love and its bittersweet triumph, and the Hartford jazz pianist ORICE JENKINS premiers his never-before-seen folk side.

On Thursday 8 March there will be two performances on the Wesleyan campus of “The Bill of Rights: Ten Amendments in Eight Motets”,sung by Festival Harmony and Wesleyan Singers, with assisting instrumentalists, and conducted by the composer Neely Bruce. at the Wesleyan Memorial Chapel at 3:15 and at 4:15 p.m.
Supreme Court Justice Anton Scalia will be in attendance at the earlier performance.

Thursday Dex Romweber Duo plays psycho-surf-rockabilly-garage-punk with guests ORBO & The Longshots, a rock&roll/americana band from Norway.
Friday at Happy Hour, Christina Santore plays cover songs on banjo and at 9, Connecticut’s premiere women’s flat track roller derby league comes to the Cafe, and Bands and DJs will entertain. All proceeds go directly to Ct roller girlsleague expenses.

Now Here’s what’s going on in the world of cinema in central connecticut:

at Cinestudio, the Trinity College Cinema in Hartford, tonight through thursday is Pina, a Wim Wenders documentary of Pina Bausch’s dance company perform her works on the stage, and then follow as they dance on city streets, on trams, and in fields, mixing their glorious art with the pulse of everyday life. Friday through the weekend, catch the academy award winner Hugo, an animated film about is a 12-year-old orphan who secretly lives in a Paris  railway station and befriends a mysterious toymaker, who turns out to be a forgotten pioneer of filmmaking, Georges Méliès.

If your Francophilia doesn’t stop at Hugo, at Real Art Ways in Hartford tonight and tomorrow, you can see Crazy Horse, a documentary that goes behind the scenes of Paris’ notorious Crazy Horse cabaret. This weekend at Real Art Ways, catch animated film Chico and Rita, about two talented musicians who venture from Havana to New York, Paris, Hollywood and Las Vegas to unite in music and love.
